The Maze District in Canyonlands has some seriously overhyped sections
I did a 5-day loop through the Maze last fall and honestly, the Harvest Scene panels were way less impressive than the random petroglyphs I found on a side canyon nobody talks about. Why does everyone rave about that one spot when the real magic is just wandering off-route (safely, of course)?

and see I gotta disagree hard on that. Harvest Scene is famous for a reason. The scale of it is something you just don't get from smaller random panels. I've spent hours there studying the figures. The way they carved into that specific sandstone face, catching the morning light. It's a masterpiece.

oh man, @phoenixp30 I get that completely. I had a similar thing with a mural in the old post office downtown here. It's not famous or anything, but the scale of it just hits different when you're standing there. I spent a whole afternoon once just watching how the light changed across the faces. You notice stuff you never would from a photo. That's the kind of thing that makes you appreciate why some art gets talked about so much. It's more than just a pretty picture, you know?
