That shortcut over Eagle Pass was a bad call
Some guy on a forum said taking the old logging trail off the Pacific Crest Trail near Eagle Pass would save us 6 miles. Tried it last weekend and it was all loose rock and deadfall. Took us almost 3 hours to get through a 2 mile stretch. Anyone else ever take advice from a stranger online and regret it?

@robinmason and I both learned that lesson the HARD way out there, never again.

Brought my buddy on that same trail last fall after reading some forum post about it being a "hidden gem." Took us 4 hours to go 3 miles and we had to turn back cause it got dark. Never trusting a stranger's shortcut again.
