That new trail marker led me straight to a goat convention

I was hiking the Cedar Creek trail they redid last year. They added a fancy sign for a 'wildlife overlook' detour. Followed it and got cornered by a whole family of goats who would not move. Had to slowly back away while they chewed on my backpack straps. Now I stick to the old, simple paths without the extra frills.

Were they blocking the whole path or just being stubborn? I mean, I've had that happen on a few high trails. Goats just do not care. I found if you just back up real slow and avoid eye contact, they lose interest after a minute. Sometimes I'll tap my trekking poles together ahead of me to kinda guide them off to the side before I get close.

Yosemite last year, I tried the pole trick and just scared myself silly.
