Shoutout to the guy who told me my pack was riding too low on the PCT
I was near Donner Pass last summer, struggling up a climb with my hips hurting. This older hiker just came up and said your hip belt should sit on your iliac crest, not below it. He showed me how to adjust the load lifters and suddenly the weight felt 10 pounds lighter. Has anyone else had a random stranger fix their gear mid hike?

Struggling up a climb with my hips hurting" - honestly, that sounds like a fitting problem for a newbie who didn't do their homework before hitting the trail. If you had read the gear manual or watched a five minute video, you wouldn't need some random guy to explain basic positioning to you. Gear is simple stuff, you just have to take two minutes to figure it out on your own.

Tighten your hip belt and tilt the buckle forward a bit.
