Paid for a 'premium' map pack and it sent me up a dead-end cliff near Moab, 60 bucks gone
I shelled out for the deluxe offline maps for a 4-day loop in Utah and the trail marker was off by half a mile, which put me against a sheer drop with no turn around until dark, so who else has lost cash on fancy route tools that just made things worse, or do you think the free GPX files are actually fine?

Ugh, don't get me STARTED. I paid 40 bucks for a "premium" trail app once and it routed me straight into a rancher's private pasture with a very angry bull and zero cell service. The free GPX files have saved my butt way more times than any fancy map, and honestly they've never cost me a night of panic camping next to a cow patty. Sure, you gotta double check the comments and dates on the free ones, but that's 15 minutes of work versus 60 bucks down the drain on a cliff you can't get off of. At this point, I treat paid maps like expensive fire starters. At least they burn well.
