Walked through the avionics bay on a 787 in Seattle last week
Saw they were using these little adhesive cable tie mounts with a peel-off backing instead of drilling holes for clamps. Has anyone else tried those on a retrofit job, or do they peel off after a few flights?

Yeah those peel-and-stick mounts don't hold up once you get any vibration or heat cycles.

Right because nothing says "secure" like a wad of glue and hope on your windshield. Had one of those things fly off on the highway once, scared the living daylights out of me. Ended up getting a legit vent clip after that, but even those bend after a while in the summer heat. Guess you just gotta pick your battles with these phone mounts, huh?
