Thought those cheap crimpers were fine until a connector fell off mid-flight

I've been using a $15 set from the hardware store for years and never had issues... until last month when I was doing a harness on a Cessna 172 and a pin just slid right out after I crimped it. The owner saw it and made me redo the whole thing with his Snap-on tools. Now I check every crimp with a pull test before I even seal the connector. Anyone else have a close call with bad crimps?

Why is it the cheap stuff always works fine until it really matters, then it just completely falls apart? It's like that $10 LED strip I bought that worked great for a year until it caught fire in my garage.

Honestly, that's the cheap stuff's whole game plan. Works perfect right up until the moment you need it to not burn your house down, then it's like "surprise, I'm actually a fire hazard!" Ngl, that's a rough way to find out your $10 savings came with a side of garage arson. Tbh, you probably just unlocked the "pay now or pay later" lesson in the most dramatic way possible. At least now you have a good story about that time your LED strip decided to become an impromptu campfire.
