The flightline at PDX has a new grounding reel setup

Stopped by the hangar at Portland International last week to help a buddy with an LRU swap, and noticed they switched to those retractable grounding reels near the fuel panels. The old cables used to tangle every time we pulled them out, but these new ones spool back smooth in about 4 seconds. Anyone else's shop made the change, and have you had issues with the spring tension wearing out faster than the cable?
