PSA: I just logged my 500th wire termination on the new regional jets
I was doing the paperwork for the last job and the count popped up on our system. It hit me that I've done that many since we started the fleet upgrade six months ago. I mean, it's just crimping pins and checking continuity, but seeing the number made me think about how much of our work is these small, repeat tasks. Does anyone else track stuff like that, or am I just weird? I'm curious if other shops keep tallies on basic jobs or if it's just for the big ticket items.

We all count the small stuff to make sense of the day. It's how we prove to ourselves we did something when the work feels invisible.

Three thousand safety wire twists"... Vera, that's dedication right there. But here's something nobody's brought up yet - those tiny wire counts we keep track of, they're basically the fingerprints of our careers. When I look at my logbook, it's not just numbers, it's the story of every connector that fought me and every panel that came off easy. Like, your 500 terminations are proof of how much patience you've got, not just how many wires you've done. One day those numbers will mean something more than the job itself, you know?

Counted my safety wire twists once... got to about three thousand before I realized I was the only one keeping score. My lead just shook his head and asked if I was gonna frame the checklist. So no, you're not weird, but we might both be a little sad for paying that much attention.
