Old tech told me to stop using twist connectors on coax
He said the compression fittings hold tighter and prevent signal loss over time. Has anyone else noticed a difference after switching?

My uncle used to run a cable install crew back in the 90s and he swears by the old twist-on connectors for temporary setups, but for anything permanent he always says compression is the way to go. I switched about two years ago on my home setup and noticed the signal strength went up by maybe 3-4 dB on some channels, especially after rain when moisture used to get into the old twist-ons. The tool is a pain at first but once you get the hang of it, the connector feels way more solid, like it's actually bonded to the cable instead of just sitting on there. One thing nobody mentions is that twist-ons can actually pull loose if the cable gets tugged even a little bit, which happens a lot in attic runs or behind furniture. So yeah, I'd say your old tech was right, it's a small change but it makes a real difference over time.

@patricia385 you've got me second-guessing my old twist-ons for sure, that moisture bit makes total sense.
