Had a stubborn autopilot altitude hold fault on a King Air this morning
It was hunting up and down about 50 feet. I spent an hour checking the usual suspects before I found a tiny crack in the static line port on the ADC. Replaced the O-ring and it sealed right up. Anyone have a good trick for spotting those hairline cracks faster?

That's actually a static port on the ADC, not a static line port. Those tiny cracks are a pain. I've had luck using a bright pen light at a sharp angle to cast a shadow in the defect. Sometimes a little soapy water bubble check is faster than a visual hunt.

Saw that and honestly I used to think it was just a line port too, but your explanation makes way more sense now. Gonna try the pen light trick next time I'm dealing with one of those.

Remember max631's pen light trick after a similar static port headache last month.
