Am I the only one who got weird resistance readings using a Fluke 87V on a shielded wire run?

I was checking continuity on a 50-foot run in a Cessna 172 last week and got a fluctuating 2-5 ohms, but a simpler meter showed a solid 0.3. Has anyone else had a fancy meter act up on long shielded cables?

Maybe your fancy meter just doesn't like long wires.

Ha, you know what, I used to roll my eyes at people blaming wiring for readings going weird. But after a buddy's solar setup kept showing voltage drops that made no sense, we finally ran new shorter test leads and bam, everything lined up perfect. So yeah, you and sandra are probably right, long wires can absolutely mess with results more than most folks realize.

River_wright might be onto something with long wires causing issues. The extra resistance can really throw off sensitive readings, especially on cheaper meters. You see it a lot when people try to measure things far from the source. Makes you wonder how much data is actually wrong because of basic setup problems.
