A QA guy told me my solder joints were too cold...

He said I was rushing the heat-up phase and showed me a joint that looked perfect but had a tiny crack inside. Now I hold the iron on for a solid 3 seconds longer and my rework rate dropped by half... has anyone else had a simple tweak like that change their whole process?

Small change, big difference" - yeah, but comparing solder joints to concrete isn't really the same thing. Solder has to flow and wet the metals properly, while concrete just sets up based on water content and curing. The real lesson here is that tiny adjustments in technique can totally change your results, no matter what you're working on.

Small change. Big difference. Same with concrete.
