A pilot in Phoenix once asked me why I was checking the same connector three times

I told him it was a lesson from my first boss, who said 'trust your meter, but verify with your hands.' Anyone else have a simple rule they always work by?

Oh man, that's a great one! I read a similar thing about always checking your work twice, because your eyes can play tricks on you.

Seriously though, is it that big of a deal? Most of the time a tiny typo won't actually change what someone understands. Our brains are pretty good at filling in the gaps. I feel like this idea that every single mistake is a disaster just makes people anxious over nothing. Sure, check important stuff, but for a casual post? It's not worth the stress.

Right, like that time I sent an email saying "I'll get back to you on Monday" when I meant "monthly." My brain definitely did not fill in that gap for the client. Casual posts are one thing, but the auto-correct fails are where the real fun begins.
