Extended warranty cold called me 9 times in one week and the 9th call was a guy named Greg who sold me nothing
So this happened two weeks ago and I still can't stop thinking about how weird it was. I got 9 calls from the same 800 number in 5 days, all about extending the warranty on my 2016 Civic with 118,000 miles. Every time I said no thanks, they hung up. On the 9th call I just stayed on the line and the guy, Greg, spent 20 minutes telling me my transmission was "on borrowed time" and that a rebuild in Phoenix runs about $4,500. When I asked him to send me the actual contract terms in writing before I agreed to anything, he got real quiet and said they don't do that before payment. I asked him one question about whether the plan covers the CVT specifically and he changed the subject twice. Has anyone actually gotten a written contract before paying for one of these, or is that just not how it works?
Nine calls in five days from the same number? That is straight up harassment, not sales. And the part about no contract until after you pay is the biggest red flag I have ever heard, like what are you even buying then, a verbal promise from Greg? The guy knows your transmission is toast but can't put it in writing, come on now.
