Why I stopped routinely replacing water pumps during timing belt jobs
Most shops do it without thinking, but I inspect the pump first. Found one in great condition recently, saved the customer a good chunk of cash.

Wish I had your restraint. I'd probably still be staring at that perfectly good pump, second-guessing myself for an hour.
