Spent 4 hours chasing a no-start on a 2012 F-150 before realizing the PATS system was just having a bad day

Went through all the usual suspects fuel spark compression and even swapped the crank sensor before the dealership guy next door walked over and said 'did you check the security light' and sure enough two key cycles later it fired right up has anyone else had their brains turned to mush by a simple immobilizer issue

Did the security light give you any flicker or pattern before you did the key cycle trick? I had a similar thing on a Chevy Cruze where the immobilizer light was flashing steady but I just assumed it was a bulb check thing. It took me three days and a tow truck to figure out I just needed to let the car sit with the key on for ten minutes before it would reset.
