My old boss always said to never trust a customer's 'quick fix' story...
Had a guy yesterday swear he just needed a new battery, but his alternator was putting out 14.8 volts at idle. Has anyone else had a customer's diagnosis be so confidently wrong?

What did he say when you told him?

Ask him straight up. He probably didn't give a real answer because he didn't want to deal with it. Men do that when something actually matters.

He just stared at his phone for a solid minute, completely silent. Then he mumbled something about needing to check his fantasy football lineup. Classic move to avoid a real talk. We ended up ordering pizza and watching a bad movie instead. Never actually got an answer.
