3 years ago a guy in Tulsa showed me the brake line flare trick that saved me a comeback
I was doing brake lines on a rusty Silverado in my bay about 3 years ago and kept getting leaks at the flare no matter how tight I cranked the fitting. An old timer named Ray who was picking up his truck walked over, watched me for a minute, and said the flare was too long by about a hair. He showed me to file the line end flat, deburr the inside, and cut the flare length to just past the fitting shoulder before I hit it with the tool. Did that on all 4 lines and not one leak, also passed the 20 psi pressure check first try. Anybody else have a mentor moment like that where the fix was way simpler than you were making it?
