Spent 4 hours chasing a rattle in my Corolla that turned out to be a $2 clip on the heat shield
I had the whole exhaust dropped in my driveway in July and it was one dumb little rusty clip the entire time, so now I'm wondering what's the longest you've ever spent on a fix that turned out to be almost nothing?

My dad once spent three weekends and about 40 bucks in gas driving around trying to find a squeak in his Tacoma. Took the dash apart twice, replaced the blower motor, the whole nine. Turned out to be a pen wedged under the passenger seat rail. A pen. I still give him crap about it at every family cookout. Meanwhile I once pulled a whole wheel off just to find out the lug nut was sitting loose in the hubcap making the noise. We're all out here losing our minds over pocket change and loose pens.
