Spent 3 hours hunting a brake squeal that turned out to be a $4 clip
My front brakes were squealing every time I tapped the pedal, so I pulled both wheels, checked the pads, greased the slides, and even bled the lines in my driveway in Denton. Turned out one of the anti-rattle clips on the driver side caliper had bent and was rubbing the rotor, and a new clip set from O'Reilly cost me $4 and fixed it in 10 minutes. Anyone else burn half a Saturday on something dumb like this?

Had the same thing happen with a rear brake on my truck last year. Heard a grinding noise and swore the pads were shot, so I bought new pads and rotors before even pulling the wheel. Got it apart and one of the little spring clips had popped off and was dragging on the rotor face. The old pads had plenty of meat left, maybe half the life still on them. I put the clip back and it's been quiet for months, but now I've got $90 of parts sitting in my garage for no reason. That squeal was the cheapest fix I ever messed up by guessing first.
