Why does nobody talk about how much plastic filler shrinks over time?
I was refinishing a quarter panel I did about 2 years ago, and there's a noticeable sink line where I laid the filler. Nobody warned me about this when I started. Found it reading a post on an old forum from a guy who's been painting since the 80s. He said most fillers can shrink up to 3% after curing fully. Has anyone else had this issue come back months later?

Is it really that noticeable unless you're shining a light across the panel at just the right angle? Most people driving by won't see a 2-3% sink line, especially if you sanded it flat before paint. Your mileage may vary but I'd only worry if it's showing through the clear coat.

Guys worry about the weirdest stuff sometimes. If the paint laid down flat and you can't feel it with your finger, it's basically a non-issue.
