Watched a guy at Maaco slap bondo over rust last Tuesday

I was dropping off a fender at our local Maaco in Akron and saw a tech just spreading filler right over flaky rust like it was no big deal. Anyone else run into hack jobs like that from chain shops?

That's rough. "spreading filler right over flaky rust like it was no big deal" - yeah, I've seen that exact thing at a chain shop near me. They did it on my buddy's old Civic and the whole patch bubbled up within six months. It's always the rust underneath that comes back to bite you.

My buddy took his Tacoma to one of those Midas-type places in Phoenix and they did the exact same thing on his rear quarter panel. It started bubbling up in like 4 months and by the end of the year you could poke a screwdriver right through it. He went back and they tried to blame it on "road salt" even though we live in Arizona where it never snows. Total clown show.
