Tried that cheap welding wire from Harbor Freight and it clogged my gun twice in one hour
Switched back to the name brand stuff mid-job on a 2018 F-150 rocker panel and the welds laid down clean, no idea why anyone pushes that budget wire for anything but tack work. Anyone else waste a whole afternoon fighting spatter and bird nests with that stuff, or was it just my machine?

That cheap wire is nothing but headaches, man. Had the exact same thing happen on a roll pan job last month, and the bird nests were unreal, it was like the liner had turned into a slinky. The spatter was so bad I was grinding for an hour just to get a clean surface back. Tried adjusting my feed roll tension and everything, but that budget stuff just doesn't stay round or feed smooth. Glad it worked out taking a break to swap it out, cost me a chunk of the day too but at least the welds finally held.
