Tried a new clear coat blend method on a 2018 F-150 hood last Thursday

Honestly, I was skeptical about the 'feather, spray, then sand' order my buddy in Toledo swore by. Ngl, it cut my blend time by almost half and the match was perfect. Anyone have a different technique for modern metallic blues?

Cutting blend time in half sounds great until you get a comeback in six months. That feather and spray method can leave a weak edge on modern metallics, especially with factory hard coats. I've seen blues from that era where the flake alignment goes off right at the blend line after a few heat cycles. Sometimes taking the extra time to properly scuff and use a dedicated blending solvent is what keeps it from being a warranty job later.

Totally agree! We had a silver metallic come back with a halo effect after skipping the proper solvent step.
