That $60 paint thickness gauge saved me from a bad blend on a silver Camry
Bought a cheap digital gauge about 6 months ago just to check panel work before I sprayed. Last week a silver Camry came in with a front fender that read 14 mils in one spot while the door sat at 4.5, so I knew someone had already worked that panel and buried it under filler. Without the gauge I would have sprayed right over it and the blend would have shown every ripple under the shop lights. Sixty bucks saved me a redo that would have cost me a full day and about $300 in materials. What do you all use to catch hidden filler before it bites you?
