Swapped from a 3M purple pad to a Mirka Abranet 800 on clear coat today and the difference was night and day.
The Mirka didn't load up nearly as bad and left a way more consistent finish with zero pigtails, so is anyone else finding that higher-end discs actually pay for themselves in time saved or am I just getting lucky?

Right, because who doesn't love spending 20 minutes picking pigtails out of clear coat for fun. The 3M purple pads are basically just sandpaper that gives up halfway through the job, takes a personal break, and then ruins your day. I swear the Mirka stuff just keeps cutting and cutting without any of that drama, it's almost suspicious. Makes you wonder what kind of sorcery they put in those things that the cheap stuff just can't seem to figure out.

Huh, I mean... it's sandpaper. Like yeah the Mirka stuff is nice and all but are we really acting like picking pigtails out of clear coat is the worst thing that's ever happened to someone? I've used both and honestly the 3M purple does fine for most jobs if you prime it right and keep your pressure light. People act like a few minutes of cleanup is this huge tragedy. Maybe I'm just not that picky but I've never had a pad completely ruin my whole day.
