Shoutout to the old timer who fixed my filler technique

Been using body filler the same way for 5 years. A retired guy named Pete watched me at the shop in Phoenix and pointed out I was mixing too hard and fast. Said I was trapping air bubbles - slowed way down and now my sanding time is cut by 30 percent. Anyone else get a basic fix that made a huge difference?

Faster mixing would force more air in if you're slamming it on there after, but a lot of pros swear by a quick, aggressive mix for a reason. Different fillers and temperatures can change the results completely, so Pete's method might not work everywhere. In my experience, the real problem is usually in the application, not the mixing speed.

Has temperature ever messed up your results more than mixing speed? Ive been messing with this in my garage and found that if its even a few degrees colder the mix gets lumpy no matter how fast I go. But then warm weather makes it set too quick so I have to work fast or waste a batch. Kind of makes you wonder if the pros just have better control over their workspace temp than us regular folks.
