Just switched from a DA sander to a longboard for blocking filler on a 1987 F-150 in my shop and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

The DA left too many low spots even with 80-grit, but the longboard gave me a perfectly flat panel in half the time without any hand-sanding cleanup - anyone else stubbornly stick with tools when a board does it better?

8 bucks at Harbor Freight, game changer right there.

Oh man, I feel you SO much on this. @rowan_thomas is totally right, the Harbor Freight one is a steal but I get why people stick with the DA - I did the SAME thing for a year on my projects. I used to think longboards were just for the old-timers who didn't trust power tools, but then I tried blocking a hood with one and realized the DA was actually making MORE work for me. It's honestly embarrassing how many hours I wasted sanding out those stupid low spots when a simple foam board could have flattened everything in one pass.
