Hot take: People are way too scared of blending on quarter panels

I see guys trying to spot repair a scratch and then clear coating the whole panel anyway. It's a waste of time and material. I matched a three-stage pearl on a Honda fender last month and blended it perfectly within 6 inches of the repair. Anyone else think blending gets a bad rap?

Blending is like the boogeyman of the paint shop. People act like it's some impossible dark art, but it's just paint. Maybe they're scared their prep work won't hold up to a close look.

Totally agree, it's not magic lol. Found that taking the time to feather the edges with a grey scotch pad made all the difference. Just gotta trust the process.

You know what nobody talks about? The LIGHTING where you're blending. If you're working under those cheap fluorescent tubes in a garage, you're basically painting blind. Get a good daylight LED setup and suddenly you see exactly where the blend starts and stops. And temperature matters too - if the paint's too cold it won't flow out right and you get that dreaded dry edge. People focus so much on technique but ignore the environment they're working in.
