Found a trick for blending metallic paint on hoods

Had a 2019 silver RAM in Tulsa last week where the base coat kept flashing too fast and leaving a tiger stripe mess... then I started adding 5% reducer and slowing my gun speed way down, first pass gets the blend to vanish. Anyone else use a slow solvent for metallics or am I just late to the party?

Buddy tried that once, blew the clear coat off a fender. Slow and steady wins.
