Been doing collision work for 12 years, just found out I been mixing my primer wrong
I was reading a PPG tech sheet last night while waiting for some filler to cure and realized I been running my urethane primer at way too high of a pressure. Like 45 psi for years, when the spec says 28-32 max. No wonder I always got dry spray and orange peel on the edges. Switched it today and the coverage is way smoother. Any of you guys ever catch yourself ignoring the TDS for years?

Wait how long did you say you were running that high pressure? 12 years? I feel way better about my own screw up now lol. For like three years straight I was using the same mixing cup for epoxy primer without cleaning it, just scraping the dried stuff out with a screwdriver whenever it got thick. Then I read the TDS that said 'use a clean cup for each mix' and realized I was basically throwing rocks into my paint job. Switched to fresh cups last month and my final coats laid down like glass.

At least you figured it out. Three years of scraping dried epoxy into fresh paint is basically homemade texture coating.
