Appreciation post: Got my first 1965 Mustang all the way straight after 3 tries

Had this '65 coupe come into my shop in Portland last month. The rear quarter panel was beat to hell from a hit and run. First attempt I blocked it out and thought it was good, but under the shop lights it looked like a wave pool at high tide. Second time I tried a different technique with a long board. Still had a dip near the tail light. Third try I slowed way down and used a guide coat. Took me 4 hours just on that one panel. Customer picked it up today and said it looked better than factory. Has anyone else had to redo a panel multiple times before getting it right?

lol "3 tries and that's a wave pool" - my buddy @betty_ward actually saw a car that got left in a flood once and the interior was all wavy like that. Water got in through the sunroof and just sat there for weeks. The seats looked like someone tried to iron them with a steamroller. I think that thing had more waves than an actual pool.
