That night at Cherry Springs State Park where I finally understood why people use remote shutter releases

I was shivering for 45 minutes trying to get a sharp shot of the Andromeda galaxy, and every time I pressed the shutter button the whole tripod shook, so now I always use a $15 cable release and I wonder how many other beginners wasted their first clear night the same way.

45 minutes of shivering sounds rough but that's kind of the deal with astrophotography. A cable release helps but a lot of those micro vibrations get overblown online. Just use the 2 second timer on your camera and call it a day.

Yeah a 2 second timer works fine for most shots honestly.
