Tbh I used to skip the moon in astrophotography
I always thought moon photos were boring compared to deep sky stuff. Then I tried stacking 50 frames with a cheap lens last week and saw craters so sharp it blew my mind. Has anyone else changed their mind about a target they ignored before?

The moon is one of those targets where you really gotta dig to get the payoff. That first time you see those terracing details inside a crater with a good stack, it hits different. I used to think it was just a bright ball in the sky too, until I tried capturing it during a gibbous phase. The shadows along the terminator line are insane, every little ridge and bump pops out like a 3D model. Honestly, it made me appreciate how much surface detail you can get from just a simple setup. Now I check the moon phase before I plan any deep sky stuff, because a half moon can still ruin a nebula shot, lol.

fr though, that terminator line is addicting. i catch myself zooming in way too long on those shadows.
