Stacking error ruined my Andromeda shot - should I redo it or just accept the flaws?
Last week out at Cherry Springs State Park, I was shooting M31 and my autoguider failed about 30 minutes in. That meant half my 90 frames had star trails before I caught it. I stacked it anyway using DSS and got a decent image but there's weird artifacts around the core. Now I'm stuck wondering if I should toss all the data and wait for another clear night or try to salvage it with more processing. Has anyone else dealt with a partial set of ruined subs and made it work?

Have you tried processing the good frames separately and then blending them with a shorter integration? I heard that technique works for some people on Cloudy Nights forums.

@Sandra146 that's like mixing apples and oranges, works okay if you're patient enough to stack just right.
