PSA: That guy at the observatory who told me my photo was 'too processed'

Last month at the Cherry Springs Star Party, some fellow walked up to my setup while I was stacking frames of Andromeda. He looks at my screen and says 'you know, the real sky doesn't look anything like that.' I just nodded and went back to work, but it stuck with me all night. Has anyone else run into the 'purist' types who think any color enhancement is cheating?
