Changed my mind about stacking astro photos after a single night
I used to think stacking was just a waste of time and that a single long exposure was good enough. Then a guy at my local club, Mike, told me to try 60 short subs of 30 seconds each on the Orion Nebula. The detail in the final stacked image blew away anything I got from a 5 minute exposure. Has anyone else had a setup change that totally flipped how they shoot?

That single night with stacking changed everything for me too, now I can't go back to single exposures.

Read somewhere that a lot of these old school astrophotographers used to swear by single exposures, but the noise reduction with stacking is just too good to argue with.
