A guy at the Grand Canyon star party told me my stacked photo was wrong, and I think he was right
Was at the south rim star party in June showing off my Andromeda stack on my tablet, and this older guy named Walt looked at it for about 10 seconds and said "that one is too smooth, you cooked the noise right out of it." I got defensive and told him I ran 400 subs through it. He just shrugged and said he'd rather see real grain than a picture that looks like a painting. Now I look back at that shot and I can't unsee it. Anyone else think heavy noise reduction hurts deep sky shots more than it helps?
