The vending machine at my office ate my $4.50 this morning
I was at my desk around 8:15, grabbed my wallet, walked down to the break room. Tried to buy a bag of chips from the old Coke machine near the water cooler. It took my money, made a weird grinding noise, and just sat there. I kicked the side and my boss saw me, now I'm out the cash and look like a fool.

That vending machine thing is the worst feeling. The grinding noise usually means the coils are stuck or something, but kicking it probably didn't help your case with the boss. Some places have a number on the machine to call for a refund, you could try that. Honestly, most companies don't fix those things fast enough, they just let people lose money. You're not a fool for kicking it, just a normal person.
