The before and after of my morning routine blew my mind after just 10 days
I started doing this thing where I don't touch my phone for the first 30 minutes after I wake up. No scrolling, no checking emails, nothing. For the first week it felt like torture, honestly. I just sat there with my coffee feeling antsy and weird. But by day 10 I noticed I was way less stressed before work even started. The big change was my head felt clearer, like I wasn't starting the day already overwhelmed by everyone else's problems. It's such a small thing but it flipped my whole mood around. Has anyone else tried cutting out screens first thing and seen a difference?

Tried it once, sat in silence, and immediately started planning my breakfast in my head, so that backfired.

That "immediately started planning my breakfast" line hits close to home. You have to go in with something small to focus on, like picking one sound to listen to - the heat vent, the fridge hum, birds outside. That way your brain has a little hook to grab onto instead of wandering off to grocery lists.
