Rant: I paid $47 for a "premium" phone screen kit that came with a plastic card and a tiny bottle of mystery liquid
So last month my phone screen got a hairline crack and I figured I'd save a few bucks and fix it myself instead of paying the shop downtown. I found this kit online for $47 that claimed it had all the pro tools and even a little frame press. What actually showed up was a plastic pry card, three screws that didn't fit anything, and a bottle of liquid so small I used it up on one edge. The screen itself had a faint yellow tint and the touch stopped working near the bottom after two days. I ended up taking it to the repair place on 5th anyway and they charged me $110 to redo the whole thing, so I basically paid $157 to learn a lesson. The guy behind the counter laughed and said he sees this kit maybe three times a week. Has anyone actually had a good run with one of these DIY kits, or is it just a scam with extra steps?
