My uncle told me to always ask 'what's the worst that can happen' before a big decision. I did it before moving to Denver and it saved me from a bad apartment lease.

Totally agree... I did that before buying my car last year. Asked myself what could go wrong, and realized I hadn't checked the insurance cost. It was way higher than I thought, so I picked a different model.

Yeah but checking insurance costs is just being smart. It's not some huge life lesson, it's just basic stuff you do before a big buy. People act like it's a deep moment of growth but it's just normal. I do that kind of thing all the time and still make dumb choices in other areas. It doesn't mean you've "learned" for good.
