My car's transmission gave out on the highway last Tuesday, and I'm torn between fixing it for $3,200 or just buying a beater for $4,000 what would you do?

The mechanic said the rebuild has a 6 month warranty but the used car from that lot on Main Street could blow up after a week, has anyone else faced this gamble and which side did you pick?

Did you check if that lot has any return policy? Heard some places offer 30 days.

You actually bring up a good point there. I've seen some lots that do 30 day returns but it's usually only on certain items or if you catch them in a good mood. In my experience those policies can be a bit hit or miss depending on who's running the place that day. Plus some of them have restocking fees or only give you store credit which is something to watch out for. Definitely worth asking before you commit though, just don't be surprised if the answer is different than what you expected. Your mileage may vary on that one for sure.
