I finally listened when a customer told me my estimates were too vague

A guy in Tucson last month said 'your quote looks like a grocery list I can't read' and I changed my whole format to itemize materials and labor after losing two other bids that week.

I actually read a study last year that said 62% of homeowners pick the clearer quote even when it's higher. Sounds like that customer did you a favor honestly. Your new format probably makes people feel more confident hitting "accept" on the bid.

Wait, did that study say anything about people picking clearer quotes even when the wording feels too salesy? Reminds me of my buddy who redid his menu board and sales jumped 20% just because they used bigger font.
