Grocery store layout debate: produce up front or at the back?

Stopped at a new store in Nashville last week. Produce was right at the entrance, looking all fresh and colorful. But this older lady in line was complaining about it, said she liked the old style where you walk past everything to get to the veggies. Got me thinking, is there a right way or is it all just about getting you to buy more stuff? One side says produce up front makes it feel healthier, the other says forcing you through the aisles boosts impulse buys. What do you all think, does the layout actually change what you end up buying?

Produce up front makes it feel healthier" is what they want you to think while they hide the eggs in the back corner like some kind of treasure hunt. Last week I walked a full mile in a store just to grab milk, and I didn't even buy the milk because I got distracted by a fake end cap sale on paper towels. The old lady in line is onto something though, at least with the old layout you knew you were being tricked. Now it's just psychological warfare with a side of kale. Next thing you know they'll be charging admission to get to the registers.
