Can we talk about the person who told me to stop using default email signatures?
I used to just slap my name and phone number at the bottom of every client email. Then this one guy from a tech startup said it looked like I was sending invoices from 2005. He told me to add a clickable link to my portfolio and a small headshot. I changed it that afternoon and my reply rate went up by about 30% over the next two months. So did that advice actually help or was it just a coincidence? Has anyone else gotten a small tweak like this that made a big difference?

That whole email signature thing is a weirdly personal battle, but your guy was right. A buddy of mine in real estate changed his from just "Thanks, Mark" to a clean photo and a line like "Let's grab coffee" and his replies went through the roof too. It's not even about the link or the picture specifically, it's like people feel like they're talking to a real human instead of a robot. That 30% bump sounds real to me, not a coincidence at all. Makes you wonder what other tiny, stupid things are silently hurting our response rates.

Ha, my signature was just "Sent from my phone" for years. Guess I was basically telling people I didn't care.
