A guy in Phoenix asked me why my bait stations were always in the same spots, and it rewired how I walk every account
Three weeks ago I was doing a routine service at a strip mall out in Phoenix, and the property manager walked the lot with me for the first time in two years. He pointed at four bait stations near the dumpster and asked why they sat in the exact same spots since he took over the building. I didn't have a good answer, just that's where the last guy put them and that's where I kept them. So we stood there and looked at the actual traffic: the trash truck comes in from the east side, the grease bin sits behind a wall, and the real entry point was a gap under a back door nobody used. I moved three stations that afternoon and caught more activity in one week than I had in the past 6 months of that contract. Now I walk every property with a flashlight and a notepad before I touch a single station, even on accounts I've had for years. It made me wonder how much of what I do is just habit dressed up as experience. What's something you kept doing a certain way just because it was the way you learned it?
