The big difference in drone footage quality after I stopped using auto white balance on a shoot in Scottsdale last March

I was out in Scottsdale filming a desert property back in March, and the midday sun was a nightmare. Every clip I shot on auto white balance came out looking flat and washed out, like someone put a gray filter over the lens. I switched to manual white balance around 5600K and the footage popped way more, the red rocks looked red and the sky kept its blue. That one change saved me from spending hours color correcting in DaVinci Resolve later. Has anyone else had this kind of before and after with their camera settings on a bright Arizona shoot?

Funny enough, my drone once crashed into a saguaro right after switching white balance.

Nah, I think the white balance actually saved you here. If you hadn't been fiddling with it you might've been focused on something else and hit it worse.
