Spent a day tweaking my drone shots with LUTs from a Phoenix film meetup
Thought they'd fix the flat desert look but my footage ended up looking like a cheap Instagram filter - has anyone else tried local LUT packs and gotten weird results?

The LUT issue isn't the pack. You probably graded on a rec709 timeline but the footage was shot in log or flat. Phoenix sun makes everything look washed out if you don't match the color space first. Try setting your project to the right color profile before you drag those LUTs on.

Oh man, that's such a good point! I actually just watched a tutorial last week where the guy was explaining the same thing about color space mismatches. He said most people mess this up because they don't realize their camera's log profile is totally different from Rec 709. Phoenix sun is brutal for that washed out look though, I shot some test footage there last spring and everything came out looking like it was filmed through a dirty window until I fixed the color space. So yeah, you're dead on - gotta check that timeline setting first before blaming the LUT pack.
